Grooming West186 viewsFeb. 05, 2006 - Grooming west, between Mink Creek area and Neys area. BR-160 is breaking the trail and filling in creeks and other holes in the trail and the Tucker is making the first pass of grooming the trail.
Steel River Bridge174 viewsOn The Superior SnoGoers section of the 'D' Trail
173 viewsThis photo is from the west side of the Little Pic River looking to the east.

About two thirds the way down the picture (at the bottom of the trail) is a sharp turn to the left. This is the base of the rock cliff in the picture showing highway bridge where the trail travels along the river in a northerly direction.

The Highway 17 bridge is a short distance to the right of this picture.
172 viewsThis is the Highway 17 bridge over the Little Pic River. Don't confuse the Little Pic River with the Pic River, which is to the east of Marathon.

This photo was taken from the trail! The view is from the east side of the river looking towards the west.

The trail on the other side of the river follows the bottom of the rock cliffs on the right (north) side of the hignway bridge. The trail goes up the hill on the right (north) side of the highway bridge.
Grooming West, Waiting for the Tucker166 viewsFeb. 05, 2006 - The BR-160 reached the top of the hill (Red Sucker Hill I beleive), and is waiting for the Tucker with the drag to catch up.
158 viewsThis picture is looking west on the D Trail. This picture isn't taken from the top of the hill - there is more hill going up behind you! And once you get to the bottom, you start going up again.
149 viewsA short distance west of the Little Pic River. Camera is looking to the east. Highway 17 is to the immediate right.

Don't think we are travelling along the tree line of the highway corridor! If you were to look to the west (turn around 180 degrees), you would see a turn to the right (away from the highway) and the trail going up yet another hill.
149 viewsNice silhouette of Marathon Sno-Kicker's Tucker Groomer on the 'D' Trail west of Marathon. Picture taken by Dan. Good shot!!
147 viewsHere is an example of some of the scenery on the Marathon Sno-Kickers trail system. This spot is located on the 'D' Trail west of Marathon by the Little Pic River. Picture by Fred.
142 viewsYet another picture taken a short distance west of the Little Pic River, looking to the west. Lots of interesting terrain in this area.
142 viewsA panoramic shot taken on 24 March 2001 on the 'D' Trail west of Marathon near the Little Pic River. To see the image in higher resolution than allowed in this photo gallery, please click here.
